The Beginners Guide to Getting Started at the Gym
There are many reasons that people feel uncomfortable going to the gym. They’re insecure about the way they look or they feel judged by their lack of physical ability. However, the number one reason people feel out of place at the gym is because they don’t know where to start. No one wants to look like they don’t know what to do, after all you decided to make this purchase.
Broccoli & Sweet Pepper Pasta Salad
I love pasta salad. For some people it’s a summer time thing, but our family will throw it together any time. This recipe is one of my favorite vinegar based pasta salad recipes because of the combination of sweet and savory. If you’re meal prepping and wanting something full of all the right nutrients, this will do it. Plus, if you swap out your regular pasta for some Protein Pasta, all of a sudden you’ve gone next level. Enjoy!
Why I Run Obstacle Course Races
Every muscle in my body hurt. It was hard to breathe. I was cold, wet, and bleeding laying face down in the dirt. I couldn't stand up because of the barbed wire running across my back. My elbows were cut from the gravel I'd been crawling through for what felt like eternity. The inside of my mouth was chalky and I could feel the grit of dirt between my teeth that had been kicked in my face my the person in front of me. "I can't do this anymore".
Is Running On Incline Bad for Your Knees?
Recently I’ve had a slew of clients tell me that their orthopedic physician has told them to stop running on inclines because it’s bad for their knees. Without being present for the entire discussion I have to assume that the person has knee pain and upon a short conversation with their physician, the doc learns they run on a treadmill and recommends no hills. The situation has caused me to look into the impact of incline training more specifically and truly ask the question: Is incline training bad for my knees?
The answer is an overwhelming NO! It’s actually quite the contrary
3 Things You Should Have Learned in 2020
It’s finally over! The year everyone wishes to forget. 2020 was a year that toyed with our emotions and played out like a Hollywood disaster movie. We saw the world on fire, giant insects, political insanity, and a virus that took away everything we hold dear. Honestly the only thing left were the zombies, nuclear winter, or moon Nazi’s. More than all of that, what stood out to me about 2020 was how quickly we let it defeat us.
3 Exercises Anyone Can Do to Get In Shape
What do I need to do to get in shape? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked that question. If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you’ve asked it recently. It’s a common question asked by anyone who has come to the conclusion that where they’re at physically isn’t where they want to be. No matter what your fitness level is, it’s a great question to ask. Everyone should ask themselves this question from time to time.
6 Signs You Aren’t Eating Enough
If you’ve ever been on a diet, you know that every weight loss plan starts with cutting calories. With all the empty calories in “bad for you” foods, it’s a great place to start your health journey. The problem comes when you start adding a fitness element to your plan and start burning more calories than you were before.
5 Reasons You're Not Building Muscle
If you’re going to the gym and putting in the work, you not only want to feel better you want to look better. No one likes going to the gym and not seeing any results. You want to see toned arms and strong, firm legs. When you don’t you stand there looking in the mirror thinking, what am I doing wrong? Depending on what you’re doing that question could have a variety of answers. You may need to start using heavier weights, using different reps/sets, or using different movements to get out of your workout plateau.
What You Should Know About Cryotherapy
Regardless of what it is, you’ve probably got some sore muscles and aching joints that are reminding you of your hard work. Now you’re trying to figure out what to do so you can get back to moving around the house normally and not like the mummy just awoken from a 1000 year sleep. You could take some ibuprofen, do some stretching, light cardio, or sit in your chair contemplating why you signed up for all that to begin with. Or how about you strip down to your underwear, put on a pair of gloves, heavy socks, and something to cover your ears. Then stand in a giant freezer where the temperature is between -130 and -200 degrees for two to four minutes.
